Build Night on Thursday!

Clubhouse Closed this Week

We are closed this week July 1st through July 5th for our annual clubhouse cleaning. We will open again with our summer hours on July 8th. Summer Hours are Tuesday through Saturday: 1pm – 5pm. Happy holiday weekend and we can’t wait to see everyone back at the Clubhouse for an exciting summer!

Adobe Youth Voices Showcase

This past Saturday in March was the Winter AYV (Adobe Youth Voices) Showcase here at The Flagship Computer Clubhouse. Proletariat visits the Flagship CC!

Last Saturday the Flagship was packed for our game design workshop, hosted by Cambridge’s Proletariat Inc., a nearby indie game design company! ED Makers: A Day in Recap

This past Saturday the Clubhouse teamed up with  Houghton Mifflin Harcourt to put on EdMakers: Reimagining  your Education Experience. This exciting event involved over 20 youth from both the Flagship and Blue Hill Computer Clubhouses. After arriving and breaking into three teams, the youth set to work brainstorming and prototyping solutions to educational challenges. 20th Anniversary Recap!

The Flagship turned 20 yesterday and to celebrate, we hosted a fun-filled party with Clubhouse staff, some of our members, other Clubhouses, and friends! We had live performances showcasing our talented members, a few speeches were made, and we enjoyed an awesome cake shaped like a computer. Thanks to all who showed up to support 20 amazing years. Clubhouse Jams in June

Last Friday the Clubhouse took another awesome adventure into Cambridge.  Thanks to Computer Clubhouse mentor and volunteer Muazzez, Clubhouse members were able to visit the control center for Nasa’s Chandra X-ray Observatory.  The Chandra telescope allows scientists from around the world to obtain X-ray images of exotic environments to help understand the structure and evolution of the universe.  Dr. Michael Juda gave Clubhouse members and mentors a tour around the facilities.  He walked us through the production of the Chandra X-ray Telescope...

May Making in the Clubhouse

So far May has been a “month of making” in the Clubhouse.  The Universal Design Workshops continue with some innovative and creative projects.  Manny, Eric, Santa, and Hughey are fully fleshing out their projects that are centered around making games for youth that have difficulty seeing.  Project range from games with the Makey-Makey using sound recognition, to texturized rubik’s cubes, to games that deal with figuring out the scents of food. The Clubhouse is back in action today.  We are open normal hours this upcoming week.  Tuesday-Thursday we are open from 2:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m., Friday from 2:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. and Saturday noon-5:00 p.m. Jackie and Ellen learned some awesome stuff this past week at the Annual Conference.  Be sure to ask them to show you pictures and teach you the new tech and art they learned!  Check out a sneak peek of what went down this week in the gallery above.

MassArt Field Trip Recap & Upcoming Showcase

This past Friday the Clubhouse went on a field trip to Massachusetts College of Art & Design.  We had a fantastic time! It was a whirlwind of learning.  We saw dark rooms for exposing photos, glass making, video production, painting studios, graphic design spaces, metal workshops, kilns, ceramic making, jewelry making, and loads of other creative endeavors. The past couple weeks have been buzzing in the Clubhouse. Urban Arts Showcase Playback

Last Friday we had our Urban Arts Showcase hosted by Computer Clubhouse interns Geo and Wilkins.  The energy was incredible and the talent was beyond impressive.
