Urban Arts Showcase This Friday & Clubhouse Events
"It's a show, it's an event, but don't worry…there will be time to socialize."
-Wilkins, Co-Event Planner for the Urban Arts Showcase & Intern at the Computer Clubhouse
This past week the Clubhouse got a visit from Real Men Read, an organization that pairs male role models from MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) with students throughout the Boston area. The students from Real Men Read fit right into the Clubhouse groove. These intelligent young men hopped into cool project including cartooning themselves on Photoshop, playing around with Scratch, and making some delicious bacon duct tape wallets. They also picked up some robust robotic skills taught by the clubhouse's own Jackie Gonzalez. We look forward to having them visit again soon!
Media collaborations occurred throughout the week between clubhouse members Omar, Marquis, and James. Omar brought the Clubhouse's Panasonic P2 Camera back to life and filmed some amazing high quality scenes of Marquis doing his thing.
Looking back, looking forward…
We also had some visits from Computer Clubhouse Alumni who imparted wisdom and creative stories from the past. Clubhouse regular Jasmine is getting to expert level on Photoshop after making a zany cool thank you card. And the creation of stop animation films aren't quittin' anytime soon. Stay tuned for Jackie's Gonzalez's epic stop animation creation of the Sprinkles of Horror on Ginger Bread Lane.
Our C2C Speaker Corey Corcoran imparted invaluable knowledge to clubhouse members on illustration, painting, animation. "Doodle as much as possible. Keep a journal of all your drawings and ideas, no matter how silly you think they may be," Corey advised. He also talked to the members about how to prepare for the college application process at Massachusetts College of Art and Design. For more information on undergraduate admissions visit here. Stay tuned to the blog to see video footage of Corey's visit.
