PLANET’s Open House Party & Mechgellan The Welcome Bot

We opened up the Clubhouse door to the residents of Cambridge and the Greater Boston area to join us for our World Builders’ Symposium.  We welcomed techies, artist, scientists, gamers, youth advocates, and the many curious people working in the museum classrooms and invention stations.

Just about 100 people stopped in to explore our beloved PLANET, our collaborative multimedia art project created by summer camp youth, Clubhouse interns, and members and directed by mentors, volunteers, and staff.  We mixed ideas and concepts, created goal driven production workshops and experimental projects and ended up with a colorful and fun collection of interactive games, art, mechanized LEGO structures and a cute little robot named Mechgellan after world explorer Ferdinand Magellan.

This awesome robot was created by Clubhouse member and teen mentor Gabe Ward to serve as the welcome bot for PLANET, the World Builders’ very first live-action role playing game.
